U.S. politician Barack Obama is very popular these days. It seems just about everybody wants to ride the "Hope" train; apparently, it goes to any destination your can imagine.

I wonder who will be voting for John McCain. It takes a certian kind of person, a certain level of conviction that not many have.

Thx for the memories!!! I saw Sly and his Family in 1969 at Varsity Stadium and they were awesome. For many of us in the crowd the fact that this was a mixed race band was almost as important as the fact that they were hot, hot, hot. I'd recount more of it but it is a little hazy in a purple sort of way.

Awesome story.

I never saw them live, must have been great. Almost any live performance video I see of Sly is busting at the seams with energy and soul. Nice, man.

It sounds so typically old and cynical to say that popular groups of today do not come close to what Sly had, but compare Bare Naked Ladies or Nickleback to Sly, and, well, you CAN'T ARGUE the point.

The band Carla Kihlstedt is self-described as avant-garde rock; they should hear me singing in the shower!

I am wandering the Earth as an advisor for those who want to hear the message, not a road block to progess. I'm part of the future, too, till the day I die.

BBC's "This World" Documentary on the CIA's extraordinary rendition program in Europe in six parts, totalling about an hour.

"This World pieces together the jigsaw of "extraordinary rendition", the alleged illegal CIA transfer of terror suspects to secret prisons in Europe. In far Eastern Poland in 2002 and 2003 strange planes landed on an old disused runway in a secluded forest. Nine times. Was Poland a staging point in the network of secret prisons established by the United States in their "extraordinary rendition" programme? Did these mystery flights bring al-Qaeda suspects to Poland? Poland is not alone: it is alleged that the CIA flew their planes to 29 different countries; that there were 300 CIA landings in Europe alone, 80 in Britain. So did European governments know about these mystery flights?"

Binyam Mohamed, a Kensington, North London resident, was taken to Morocco to be tortured to breaking point over 18 months. And it sounds like the CIA did a lot worse than just waterboard him into a false confession. They wanted Mohamed to admit to being with bin Laden and al Qaida, which Mohamed says is a lie. The British resident is now at Guantanamo naval base, Cuba.

CMOT, those videos were fabulous! I watched all the Matt clips, including the three parts of his lecture. What an amazing experience, and funny guy!
