CBC SPORTS ONLINE - Major League Baseball reportedly plans to announce Wednesday that the Montreal Expos will be relocated in Washington.

According to Associated Press, a city official confirmed that Washington was conditionally awarded the beleaguered franchise, pending approval from city council.

A sad thing, but probably best given that Montreal's Big Owe stadium was dropping chunks of concrete into the stands. Baseball is not a topic of interest to most Montrealers I know, and that Youppie character was pretty disturbing anyhow.

I love baseball, and I hate to see the Expos leave Canada. I remember Larry Walker's first few seasons, the best Canadian player anyone had seen in ages. He meant so much to me as a kid playing baseball.

Dennis Martinez's perfect game... Tim Wallach. Those ugly three-colour caps.

The World Series in my playground was always Expos versus Jays. Such a storied team, and a loss to a great city... Without the strike, without Bud Selig who knows where they could have gone.

I go back to Jarry Park and Coco Laboy and John Boccabella. It's a real shame that this organization which produced so many great players could not make it in Montreal, whatever the reason.

as a huge fan of the Montreal Expos, let me reassure you all:

** the original and best RICO piece:
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/si_online/scorecard/news/2002/07/23/sc/

** The Case itself (see esp. pp.44-45.)
http://download.sportsgi.com/rico_suit.pdf

... It ain't over till it's over.

See you all here on Nov. 16th for an update after the US Federal Court arbitration judgement.
