If the original "Charlie's Angels" had any legs nostalgically, director "McG" (that's right: no first name, no last name, just "McG") has amputated them.

quote:
His nauseating direction feels like the machinations of a fast food worker at the end of his mental rope, begging the logical question: "McG, do I get fries with this?" Apparently, McG is short for McGagreflex.

Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu are back as female superspies, but could easily be mistaken for bored extras in a 105-minute music video tribute to classic rock. Humor and logic are about as native to McG and company as ditch-digging and humility.

I went to that movie the other night.

My advice, in two words: Don't Bother.

Should you be absolutely compelled for some reason, my substitute advice would be: Take Along Some Tylenol.

Nothing against Drew Barrymore, here. It's the "director" who has to answer for the sorry mess that the movie became.

I actually found the movie suprisingly enjoyable, just as I had the first. Sure, the first half hour drags, the slow-mo Matrix fight scenes get REAL old, real quick and the explosions and fight scenes tend to blur together, but overall it's just 2 hours of great brainless trashy fun, which is exactly what it is designed to be.

I thought Bernie Mac was really funny, Demi Moore was totally campy and over the top, the three Angels just have great chemistry on screen (I find Drew especially captivating but they're all good), and John Cleese and Matt Le Blanc play the clueless guys in Lucy Liu's life to perfection.

Sure, the plot makes no sense, the situations are totally unrealistic, and the characters are all over the place (what the heck is Crispin Glover's character about ), but it's all a big joke anyway, so who cares? I left the theatre laughing and smiling, and that was my goal going in there. Yes, as a man, the skin factor was part of the enjoyment but my female friend enjoyed it just as much as I did, to her considerable surprise.

Lots of us girls like a little skin too, you know

I'd like to go see the movie for same reasons you enjoyed it. I need a mindless an escape once in a while.

It reminds me of that Gainsbourg song. How does it go...

sea, sex and sun
toi petite
tu es de la dynamite
le soleil au znith
me surexcite
deux petits seins de bakelite
qui s'agitent
sea, sex and sun
toi petite
c'est sr tu es un hit

Summer and Sexyness go together like rabble and babble!

I liked it. I liked it better than the first one, actually. The first one wasn't campy enough for me - it actually tried to have a plot. So not the idea.

Never watched the series or the movies.Never liked Demi Moore in anything. She can barely act, but,I don't think that's the point.I like to watch mindless entertainment sometimes, but,I'd rather watch Airplane or Blazing Saddles (for the 150th time) than Charlie's Crap.

I can't imagine parting with my hard-earned money to see something like "Charlie's Angels". Mind you, my wife and I go to WWE pay-per-views at our local multi-plex, so I guess there's no accounting for taste....
