No, this is not a post about any of Canada's newspapers or the constitutions of any of Canada's political parties.

This is about that very important roll of paper that hangs nearby one's commode or toilet.

Do you prefer 2 ply or 1 ply? Do you even notice how many ply it is before buying it, or do you learn the hard way... when it comes time to use it?

Who the heck decided that every roll of toilet paper - TP to the aficonado - needs to come off of the TOP of the roll? Anyone can see that rolling off the back provides an edge to facilitate the tearing when the loose end is directed upward from the roll.

What does it say about Canadian culture that every toilet roll in the nation is expected to roll down from the back like some goosestepping military machine?

How many sheets do you use? Do you use more sheets the bigger your posterior [ass to some] gets bigger? Does anyone still measure human butts in terms of axehandles?

Look on the package. It should make some reference to an American multinational corporation or billionaire royal family from New Brunswick.

2-ply, because what the hell, I deserve it. Toilet paper has always rolled from the back in my household. In my family of origen we always had playful cats who would completely unroll the TP if it was from the front, but unrolling from the back they didn't seem to be able to handle.

Every time I see TP rolling from the back, I change it so it properly rolls from the front.

Excuse me, mr. oldgoat, sir. Boom Boom is right. It properly rolls from the front.

I should probably move this to Humanities and Science, or maybe Labour and Consumption, but what the hell, maybe it will take a cultural turn yet.

I concur with the RFB crowd. I suspect the push to have them roll from the front is all about having more paper roll off the roll thereby incresing consumption of the product and profit numbers. Especially if you have an oldgoatish cat.

True progressives roll from the back.

Stephen Harper has ordered that all the TP at 24 Sussex roll from the front. Whispers from the caucus suggest if he gets a majority, all Canadians will have to do likewise.

Bah. Cats can shred their share of toilet paper whether it rolls down the back or when, as is proper, it rolls over the top.

Feh. You yearn for culture, yet you persist in the uncultured practice of rolling from the back.

When using 2 ply 5 or 6 sheets are my max, but with 1 ply only 6 or 8 sheets seems to do the job.

But having used the brown recycled stuff and run into too many wooden bits in the paper i am afraid i will have to stay with the white stuff for a while.
