"Russian Ark". Stunning. Beautiful. Original. Like nothing I've ever seen. One continuous 90 minute steadi-cam take sometimes with hundreds of actors and sometimes with one actor. All done in constant motion throughout The Hermitage in Petersburg, Russia. Un-fucking-believably difficult to pull off. Rent it.

Stunning movie, banquo. Shot in HD, then dumped to 35 mm. Very cool.

Anyone ever see Ken Loach's Hidden Agenda, starring Frances McDormand? Good leftist political thriller set in Northern Ireland.

It may have been mentioned in earlier film threads, but "Les Invasions Barbares" by Denis Arcand is simply stunning. Very moving and beautiful scenes of friendship and loving support mixed with angry commentary on modern society. Plus you have '80s Quebec dance songstress Mitsou ("Bye Bye Mon Cowboy") actually doing a not-bad acting job and director Arcand in a cameo role as a union thug!

I loved Takeshi Kitano's film Zatoichi. Brilliant, brilliant film. Now if only it would come out in theatres or on video......
