I downloaded that (take that anti-piracy suckers!) but wasn't sure if it was too good. Sadly, for some reason I developed a not too good impression about it and its been lying in some ignored corner of my computer. Now I'll dig it up for sure. Thanks for heads up!!

Excellent film. Apparently it's an incredibly realistic representation of Brazilian slums. And the only professional actor is Carrot, the white drug dealer kid, the rest are just locals.

The guy who played Lil Ze got busted for coke or some shit like that after the movie came out.

Heh; thats how I got to see it as well; actually, I just finshed watching it a moment ago, but was so impressed by the first 2/3rd's that I took a moment to post about it. All the same, I think I will actually pick up the DVD version of this; its not often I buy media any more, but in this case its well worth it. Plus I think the DVD version has a documentary on it about the slums as well.

Really? Wow, they did a pretty damn good job.

Incredibly visceral film, to say the least, not an easy thing to watch at times. Did I say "Best foreign film I've seen lately". Bah. Best film I've seen this year, more like.

What an incredible film.. the best Ive seen in a very very long time. Somehow, even though it is often extraordinarily violent and gruesome, the movie retains this sort-of light-hearted tone that makes for a really interesting contrast.

Plus there was that drop-dead gorgeous girl ...

You should buy the DVD as it comes with a really interesting documentary on the slums.
