If you were given a slot in a talent show, what would (or wouldn't) you do? Or what would you like to be able to do?

I would play the piano or do card tricks. I wouldn't sing. I'd like to be able to do a stand-up comedy routine.

I would like to be able to play the piano or violin in the classical genre, at a world class level. To be able to play the Goldberg Variations, or some Beethoven sonotas in such a way as to make headlines the next day would be quite pleasant. Other than that, a ventreloquist and dummy act could be fun. As long as I got paid.

Well, I played "Bye Bye Blackbird" on the kazoo, on the air, during our community radio fundraising drive.

I can tap dance! And play the clarinet badly. I wish I could play guitar and sing.

With N p-p's suggestion, it occurred to me that this thread could easily break out into a bad old black and white movie.

Judy Garland: Hey, why don't we get the gang together and put on a show!

A youthful Micky Rooney: Why that'd be Swell!! We'll use old man whatzisnames barn. We'll get everyone together and raise enough money to save the orphanage!!!

Although I've been trained as a classical pianist, I think I would play marimba if I had the chance again, or maybe play piano and sing one of my own compositions (folksy or blues ballad, or love song),

I could probably fake that, but I could really kick ass on the washboard.

I'm certainly no "blender-boy"

quote:
The Belmont man whipped up a fruit smoothie Oct. 2 on the Late Show with David Letterman by tossing an orange, kiwi and strawberry into a running blender balanced on his chin.

"I started out with tomatoes, but that was way too messy," said the 24-year-old Colchester County man, who began practising his balancing and juggling trick in May.

I can produce 2 different "voices" with my mouth at the same time. If I could keep them in tune I would surely do Bach Two-Part Inventions, but - alas! - it just sounds like a cat being humped by a Neanderthal.

A lot of Babblers might call that an impression of Dalton McGuinty (or most other politicians). In any case, it gets you into the show.

As for Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney movies, I have no problem as long as we can do the hip-hop version.
