Well, he won't be going gently into that good night, and That's good, but the thing I do find annoying about Pratchett's work is that he's not content with simply making us laugh. He wants to be seen as a prohpet for the ages and can get quite preachy at times.

That's really sad about Pratchett, CMOT, I know you must be a huge fan of his. I like the Death of Rats myself. And what's her name, Susan? Death's daughter? She's cool.

I've read a few of his books. I'm not a massive fan, but I heartily enjoy his humour and creative use of footnotes, fonts and caps. I'm not sure what you mean by him being preachy. In what ways? What sorts of issues? I never picked up on that, but it's been a few years since I read one of his Discworld stories.

Well maybe it's not him, but the character of granny weatherwax tends to give long, sanctimonious speeches about "the way things are" and it gets annoying, especially because granny isn't really a decent human being but we're all supposed to stand up and salute her because she speaks "the truth."
