Sung to the tune of :

"If Your Happy and You Know it Clap Your Hands"

If you cannot find Osama, bomb Iraq.
If the markets are a drama, bomb Iraq.
If the terrorists are frisky,
Pakistan is looking shifty,
North Korea is too risky,
Bomb Iraq.

If we have no allies with us, bomb Iraq.
If we think that someone's dissed us, bomb Iraq.
So to hell with the inspections,
Let's look tough for the elections,
Close your mind and take directions,
Bomb Iraq.

It's pre-emptive non-aggression, bomb Iraq.
To prevent this mass destruction, bomb Iraq.
They've got weapons we can't see,
And that's all the proof we need,
If they're not there, they must be there,
Bomb Iraq.

If you never were elected, bomb Iraq.
If your mood is quite dejected, bomb Iraq.
If you think Saddam's gone mad,
With the weapons that he had,
And he tried to kill your dad,
Bomb Iraq.

If corporate fraud is growin', bomb Iraq.
If your ties to it are showin', bomb Iraq.
If your politics are sleazy,
And hiding that ain't easy,
And your manhood's getting queasy,
Bomb Iraq.

Fall in line and follow orders, bomb Iraq.
For our might knows not our borders, bomb Iraq.
Disagree? We'll call it treason,
Let's make war not love this season,
Even if we have no reason,
Bomb Iraq.

---------------------
Don't know the origins but there are lots of derivations :

Here
etc ...google "if your happy bomb iraq"

Edited to say that it appears that John Robbins is the originator ...who knows

Ooo, now there are many versions...

quote:

If we cannot find Osama, bomb Iraq.
If the markets hurt your Mama, bomb Iraq.
If the terrorists are Saudi
And the bank takes back your Audi
And the TV shows are bawdy,
Bomb Iraq.
If the corporate scandals growin', bomb Iraq.
And your ties to them are showin', bomb Iraq.
If the smoking gun ain't smokin'
We don't care, and we're not jokin'
That Saddam will soon be croakin',
Bomb Iraq.
Even if we have no allies, bomb Iraq.
From the sand dunes to the valleys, bomb Iraq.
So to hell with the inspections
Let's look tough for the elections
Close your mind and take directions,
Bomb Iraq.
While the globe is slowly warming, bomb Iraq.
Yay! the clouds of war are storming, bomb Iraq.
If the ozone hole is growing
Some things we prefer not knowing
(Though our ignorance is showing),
Bomb Iraq.
So here's one for dear old daddy, bomb Iraq,
From his favorite little laddy, bomb Iraq.
Saying no would look like treason
It's the Hussein hunting season
Even if we have no reason,
Bomb Iraq.

This isn't "news". I'm not sure whether to move it to activism or pop culture - I guess I'll move it to pop culture since it's become a real pop culture phenomenon of late.

Pop Culture ?

I would have thought that the emminent bombing of Iraq and the developing anti-war sentiment that is characterized by this song parody would be news. Its not just a song kind lady.

But hey, thats just me. You can delete the whole thing if you like.

No no - it's a great thread. I just wanted it to be in the right place. The News forum is for discussing current events in the news. This song is more of a pop culture phenomena, or an activist chant.

I love this song. It doesn't get old.

Everybody - Let's come up with a few more verses.

When your friends are facing prison
And the economy's in ribbons
It is not a tough decision to bomb Iraq

When you make another blunder bomb Iraq
When your backers are going under bomb Iraq
When the Great Lakes have no Sturgen
You can't make a better diversion
Let's start a military excursion to bomb Iraq

When their army has no pensils
And the people no essentials
And your president is mental, bomb Iraq

PS. If any one can fix up the middle one so it sounds right you can claim it as your own. I am soo out of practice.

quote:
To get drilling in the Artic, bomb Iraq.
He would bomb Alberta also but sadly Ralphy is on the wagon.

If there is no drilling in the Artic
And you cannot get it started
And you haven't gotten smart yet dumb bomb Iraq

And Saddam has only farted bomb Iraq

If someone else has got the stake in
And it's no longer yours for the taking
If your greedy heart is breaking bomb Iraq

Anyone got a ryme for "pretzel" preferably two of them.
