There's this magazine called Gothic Beauty. I was just looking at their website, and had to share the comedy gold that was the list of bands they cover in their latest issue:

Collide
Android Lust
Butterfly Messiah
Nicodemus
Faith & Disease
Zeromancer
Genitorturers
Lollipop Lust Kill

Ha!

Android Lust? What're they doing there? They're not Goth, they're Necro-techno. Sheesh.

quote:
Velvet pants and a big top hat
It's a little hot to be dressed like that
Down near the war memorial he's propped
In a big black cape and twelve hole docs

Now he almost made his auntie faint
When he stopped at the chemist for some black nail paint
She just stood there hands on hips
He said "Aunty Em it'll match my lips"

(chorus)
I heard his mother and his father say
"What possessed the boy to dress that way?"
But don't you try and bring him down
He's a lonely goth in a country town

Now his father's family settled here
In another time, it was a long gone year
He knows about them all you see
They're buried at the local cemetery

There's a girl in the next town that he knows
They met at a Marilyn Manson show
And they write letters and they swap spells
They'll be together one day in hell

(chorus)
I heard his mother and his father say
"What possessed the boy to dress that way?"
And what will the blokes at the bottom pub say
And the women down at her CWA?
But don't you try and bring him down
He's a lonely goth in a country town

To dress like that around here you guess
That he likes being close to death
He doesn't like footy, he doesn't like cars
He didn't mind Coppolla's Dracula

One day he'll be rid of this place
Run like mascara down a pale white face.
He doesn't believe in a god above
But you could never doubt his mother's love

(chorus)
I heard his mother and his father say
"What possessed the boy to dress that way?"
And what will the blokes at the top pub say
And the women down at her CWA?
But it's eye of newt and it's tongue of bat
As he walks around town with his mum's black cat
And if you'd been through all he's been through
Then you'd turn white and you'd frown too

He's the bravest boy behind the frown
Of a lonely goth in a country town
He's evoked the wrath of a country town
He's the only one for miles around

It's a shearing town
Or a mining town
A quiet little country town

There must be guitar tabs available online somewhere.

I'm partial to Velvet Acid Christ myself.

Goth music would be really good if it wasn't for the crappy lyrics and how each songs seems to be the exact same. The lyrics are pretty crappy though. I actually heard a song that mentioned "death loins".
"I want to love you with my......death loins!"
The sad thing was that it had a good beat and the whole background-dark techno music was great as well. The lyrics were just crap so I couldn't bear to listen to it all.

And is the singer of every gothic band just one guy who sounds like he's trying to scare children on halloween by sounding like a stereotypical vampire (complete with voice that goes up and down when he speaks)

I actually like the group Vampire Beach Babes! Gothic music mixed with surfer music! with songs like "Hawii Shirt From Hell" and "Attack of the Killer Bikinis" how could you go wrong?

quote:

She's in love with herself
She likes the dark
On her milk white neck
The Devil's mark
It's all Hallows Eve
The moon is full
Will she trick or treat
I bet she will

She's got a date at midnight
With Nosferatu
Oh baby, Lilly Munster
Ain't got nothing on you
Well when I called her evil
She just laughed
And cast that spell on me
Boo Bitch Craft

Yeah you wanna go out 'cause it's raining and blowing
You can't go out 'cause your roots are showing
Dye em black
Black no. 1

Little wolf skin boots
And clove cigarettes
An erotic funeral
For witch she's dressed
Her perfume smells like
Burning leaves
Everyday is Halloween

Loving you was like loving the dead

- Type O Negative

Anyway, there are much funnier names such as Corpus Delicti and Glampire (his photos are a hoot! http://www.glampire.com/home.html )
