David Blaine, amazing magician or just a bit loony?

Discuss.

Blaine riding on the outside of a ferris wheel in London, UK

to warm up for:

Hanging in a Perspex box for 44 days above the Thames

quote:
His only source of nourishment will be a tube feeding him water.

Blaine, who has a third eye tattooed on his palm, said: "There will be no trickery and no means of escape ... We are all capable of infinitely more than we believe. We are stronger and more resourceful than we know, and we can endure much more than we think we can ... In truth, the only restrictions on our capacity to astonish ourselves and each other are imposed by our own minds.

If he manages to do this then I think we'll need another word, like "magician", to describe him (saving "magician" for charlatans like David Copperfield).

I saw a tv special with this guy a few years back. He's nothing if not intense. Very compelling character.

Day 6: Onlookers throw eggs and bananas at Blaine's plastic box and shine laser pens at him

Very Dangerous To His Health, According To The Daily Mirror

quote:
By the time he emerges from his 7ft x 7ft x 3ft box on October 19, he is expected to have lost 45lb (20kg) after having gone for more than six weeks without food.

His heart will have thinned, his liver will have shrunk and his muscles will be so weak he will have trouble standing.

Although the human body can survive for up to 60 days without food, Blaine, 30, is still pushing himself to the limits of human endurance, according to medical experts.

...and what would happen to him if that water actually had some, I dunno, nutritional supplements in it for instance?

Did you know that David Copperfield once made the Brooklyn Bridge VANISH! But Claudia Schiffer dumped him anyway.
