(CBS) WASHINGTON It's always one of the biggest nights in Washington for stars and for glamorous fashion, with guests in the spotlight at an exclusive White House holiday reception. The designer gowns are always scrutinized, and on this year's bash, there was plenty to talk about.

Ok, I was pondering where I should move this thread to, because I don't think this was what anyone had in mind when they set up the international news and politics forum. Then I figured hey, why not leave it to one of the new interns and see what happens.

Ok guys, this is a test. *hint...NOT the feminism forum!*

Because then it's just another Linux users convention.

Okay, what the heck, I'll bite. My answer to this skill-testing question would be...the culture forum. Low brow, high brow, international fashion intrigue includes culture, no? What do you think?

ETA: Because this is a test situation, I'm not going through with moving the thread for fear of getting it wrong!

Just kidding. I'd have picked this forum too.

(Edited to remove the "you're fired". I was going for a parody of Donald Trump, but it's kind of hard to get that across in print and I didn't want to be offensive. )

Yeah, geeze, culture??

Now the Boston Pops Orchestra doing the Barry Manilow Xmas collection while I sit back with a glass of Mateuse Rose, now that's culture.

Anyway, I dunno, the story has both news elements and an international component to it.

Oh Santa, oh you came and you gave without taking

Donald Trump? Barry Manilow? Mateuse Rose?

This hazing ritual is more serious than I realized.

When I first read oldgoat's message, I replaced Boston Pops with Mini Pops doing Barry Manilow. I will shift blame to Michelle for this because she started a thread on the Mini-Pops and now they are in my subconsciousness.

I think having frivolous threads like this in the culture section distracts from the serious, probing questions of topics like Lindsay Lohan's letter to Robert Altman's family and the UFC Championships.

babble, and her new interns, are a disgrace to the left.

Heh, you're right Catchfire, this thread is a disservice to greater cultural issues in the world today. It shames to say that just over the course of this discussion alone, we have missed Linday Lohan's latest letter citing Al Gore and Britney Spears' 25th birthday.

How about The Chipmunks singing Barry Manilow?

And we haven't even talked at all about Tom and Katie!

I think the real question is: what are Brangelina and the kids doing for the holidays.
