The lyrics to Sweet Neocon don't pull any punches and contain other provocative verses along with what was orignally teased. This song is a pretty straight forward jab at the Bushies. Mick said he wrote the song after a discussion with a conservative friend of his. I guess he couldn't resist the temptation to rub his licks in.
Song has some solid Keith guitar riffs. The chorus is a little off. Song kinda slows down there but the drums and guitar keep it moving.Micks singing although ok is probably the weakest part of the song but still its got a great beat and after a few beers would be fun to sing along with at parties.
Good stripped down Stones album with a real rock n'roll sensiblitity. Many of the songs feature only the 3 remaining original Stones, Mick Keith and Charlie.

I don't know what Brown and Root is though.

SWEET NEO CON
(M. Jagger/K. Richards)

You call yourself a Christian
I think that you're a hypocrite
You say you are a patriot
I think that you're a crock of shit

And listen now, the gasoline
I drink it every day
But it's getting very pricey
And who is going to pay

How come you're so wrong
My sweet neo con.... Yeah

It's liberty for all
'Cause democracy's our style
Unless you are against us
Then it's prison without trial

But one thing that is certain
Life is good at Haliburton
If you're really so astute
You should invest at Brown & Root.... Yeah

How come you're so wrong
My sweet neo con
If you turn out right
I'll eat my hat tonight

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah....

It's getting very scary
Yes, I'm frightened out of my wits
There's bombers in my bedroom
Yeah and it's giving me the shits

We must have lots more bases
To protect us from our foes
Who needs these foolish friendships
We're going it alone

How come you're so wrong
My sweet neo con
Where's the money gone
In the Pentagon

Yeah ha ha ha
Yeah, well, well

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah...
Neo con

Thanks for the background. Mick does his homework plus he found something to ryhme with astute.
This is an old thread topic, first started a few weeks back, but I thought I'd revive it just to post the complete lyrics, now that the album is in stores as of Tuesday. Cheap $9.99 at Futurshop. $17.99 at HMV.
All the initial media reaction was to one verse only. The first verse.

Brown and Root is a subsidiary of Halliburton based here in Houston, TX. Sometimes it is called Kellog-Brown & Root, or KBR.

no sympathy for the devil

"Sweet neocons, why are you soooooooo wrong? The answer is they're never wrong in any conflict between reality and their "idealistic" philosophy, it is the former that must give way. As war clouds hover darkly over Lebanon, Syria, and Iran, and the first few premonitory bolts of lightning split the sky, another Jagger song rises up from the vale of memory, like a ghost mocking us down through the years:

Please allow me to introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long long year stolen many man's soul and faith
I was around when Jesus Christ had His moment of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that Pilate washed his hands and sealed His fate
Pleased to meet you hope you guess my name
But what's puzzling you is the nature of my game"
