I know at least some of you babblers are huge hockey fans as well as progressives. You're like me. I've put together a progressive solution for pro hockey in Canada. Check it out, spread it around if you like it, and let's add some fresh voices and ideas to news coverage about the state of pro hockey in Canada.

This is a non-commercial site. No ads, no pop-ups, no agenda other than promoting the co-op hockey model.

Does that mean, runner, that no one should discuss any other issue until those ones are resolved?

Looks like we're up for a long, cold, boring winter!

The CPC-ML would probably say so. My parents have an old campaign leaflet of theirs from the seventies, and perhaps the most striking thing about it (even more than its strident tone) is the fact the none of the candidates are smiling in their pictures. After all, with the capitalist oppressors still around, there's nothing to smile about, right?

I do not want to see hockey this year. Why you ask? Well because with no hockey the Leafs will win the Cup.

Actually according to little known NHL League Rule 2456156 subsection a paragraph 4

quote:

Should the league not play for 1 full season the Board of Governors of the League shall award the Championship trophy known as Lord Stanley's Cup to the Toronto Maple Leafs as Champions of the Year"

So I say stay out let the Leafs Win, Leafs win.

Start the Parade on Yonge Street

Great minds...

In the dressing room after a game a coupla weeks ago, me and the boys were griping about the NHL, and I said the players should start a co-op league.

The boys naturally thought I was looney.

I still like the idea, except I haven't been able to figure out how the rosters would be maintained.

Would players trade themselves to other teams?

Would they vote to cut one of their own and bring in someone who'll dig in the corners?

Does everyone get the same ice-time?

Lord Stanley wanted the Cup awarded every year. I don't think we should wait on the NHL; plans to contend for it should be in the works. Perhaps the thought of the Hamilton Bulldogs, say, raising the Cup will goose the NHLPA and owners to see sense.

No of course other issues should be discussed.

I for one will never understand why Canadian's put so much of themselves into Hockey. Not being born and bred here, I just don't get it.

Why not? It's not as if Dryden is doing anything right now.
