It's 18 months or so until its released so we might as well start discussing it

The main problem with the film, of course, is the story is pretty much a matter of connecting the dots so it can't hold many surprises.

What do we know?

Count Duku dies and is replaced as Sith Jr by Anakin who might even be the one who slays Duku at the urging of Chancellor Palpatation much in the way he urged Luke to slay Darth and take his father's place in Return of the Jedi.

Palpatation takes on dictatorial powers and becomes Emperor.

The Jedi finally figure out what's going on and turn against the Clone Army but it's too late.

All the Jedi die except for Yoda and Obiwan. Yoda takes refuge in a swamp.

Anakin impregnates Amadala and sires twins, Luke and Leia, but doesn't know about them.

Obiwan fights Anakin (who has crossed over to the dark side) and beats the crap out of him forcing him into a life support unit.

Amadala finds refuge on Alderan thanks to Bail Organa who adopts Leia and raises her

Amadala dies, possibly in childbirth.

Obiwan takes Luke to Tatooine where he's raised by his uncle. Obiwan stays nearby.

Chewbaka shows up somewhere. Perhaps we get a glimpse of a young Han Solo too?

Am I missing anything?

The only thing I can't figure out is the miserable and painful death meted out to Jar-Jar.

Unless poor Christopher Lee gets entirely edited out again.

Speaking of Wookiees, did y'all know Chewbacca is dead? They killed him off in one of the Star Wars novels.

I just found out, and I'm distraught.

According to the novels, the Jedi are hunted down by Vader & Palpatine after Palpatine becomes emperor. The timespan seemed to indicate that it took longer than the movie would cover.

The films aren't constrained by the novels.

Anyway, any other plot points that the film has to cover?

Presumably, Anakin and Amidala have to boink at some point.

A raunchy sex scene involving Natalie Portman would considerably increase my tepid enthusiasm for SW III.

this might be obvious to some of you, but who trained palpatine to be a sith master? did he train himself? more importantly, can you order learn-at-home kits on tape or VHS?

who ordered the clone army? did they pay on credit? how much interest has accrued?

how will yoda get to his swamp, i.e. will we get to see yoda fly an x-wing? what causes the dark side corner of yoda's swamp?

if they're twins, why did leia have memory of their mother and luke didn't?

will anakin fall into this mythical pit of lava?

According to The Phantom Menace, there are always two Sith practitioners. A master and and apprentice. They maintined the lore, culture, training, and goals of the Sith well after the defeat of the Sith by the Jedi at Yavin.
