Do any babblers participate in virtual online worlds, like secondlife.com or worldofwarcraft.com?

I've been seeing a few articles about those games or "community sites". Second Life has over 2 million members or players and World of Warcraft has something closer to ten million.

I've got a couple of 20-something nephews who play it constantly. They have their own online identity, a "job", "friends", "places" to "meet and talk" (they can talk with other players they know using a headset with a microphone).

Strikes me a great way to become detached from the real world and real relationships.

Any thoughts about, or experiences with, those virtual communities?
