Is it just me, or does it disgust anyone else that films about the rwandan genicide seem so prevalent right now, and that so much money will be made off of them, as if that's the only thing Rwanda has to offer and is valuable for ? Especially with the idea of westerner/west (white in the most recent one) as some sort of saviour, when we did absolutely nothing...Rwandans in Uganda stopped the genocide by invading. I respect Romeo Dallaire, and raising awareness about genocide to stop it is important, but still.

It would disgust me more if anyone tried to minimize the genocide.

People "make money from" many things, yet the validity of the thing itself is independent of whether there is a profit or a loss involved in making it.

We live in a culture in which escapism is the norm, and where the life of Brittany Spears is of all-consuming interest.

Films about reality are always needed.

If a hollywood film was truly realistic about genocide, no one would go and see it, simply because it would be to horrific. Do other film industries strive for realism when they create movies about the destruction of various ethnic groups?
