Im not sure if this is the right place or not but here goes.

I suggested this to statica but havent seen her in a while.

I was thinking that a photo gallery shwoing could be entitled "Portrait of a Rape Victim" And be portraits of women (and men even) who have been victims of sexual assault but showing themselves as strong and proud and most importantly undefeated.

Important to show the various people who are victims (all walks of life) and that they have not let it defeat them which would be the final victory of a rapist.

hard to do I know and gee I'd have trouble volunteering for a portrait myself but it sounded good in my head

Thoughts?

I, personally, am uncomfortable around that fact of my life. It is hard to deal with, and I like to forget that it ever happened. To all my family, it never happened. They don't know about it.

I don't know how other victims would take it. I personally wouldn't volunteer...Plus, it would be taken of advantage of by sickos really good and fast.

Anything can be taken advantage of, it you let them.

And while I too am uncomfortable about that part of my life, I have nothing but admiration for those who can stand up to it and thats kind of what I was thinking

I can understand Papal Bull's fears but I think it is still a good idea. I think it would empower a lot of people; not just those exhibited in the gallery photos.

Can I suggest that ditching the word "victim" might be a good thing? I think "survivor" is the term more readily accepted as being empowering.
