They believe that the rise of the Christian right means that America is doomed. They are environmentalist. They are economically progressive. They are anti-war. And they are even a little feminist:

quote:

It's a method for - in the case of a man - finding a "submissive" wife (a robot or an automaton) to service his interests and "his sexual needs," and - in the case of a woman - finding someone who can "bring home the bacon;" a magician's handbook for "signs and wonders" (C. Peter Wagner, John Kelly, the late John Wimber, etc.); a means of taking control over the lives of other people (to wit, the perverted teachings of the "Apostles and Prophets Movement").

It's a means of achieving Nirvana or a method of embarking upon a "Grail Quest" for a kind of personal perfection that is unattainable in this life (a quest that leads inevitably into a life of duplicity and hypocrisy), and - when forced on others - turns the lives of those against whom this hypocrisy is directed into lives filled with horror, fear, and cruelty.

At the same time they do believe that men and women have occupational roles to which one or another are better suited. But still.

Anyway, a lot of it is very wacky, but this is the first time I've ever seen someone use biblical arguments to claim seriously that the rise of the Christian Right is ITSELF a sign of the Antichrist. And to build a lodge OUTSIDE of America (in Canada) to prepare for this.

It's not that big of a stretch. Revelations predicts something about false prophets...

Quite so. These people are simply attributing to the fundamentalists what many of the fundamentalists attribute to the Catholics.

It's always depressing to see hate websites on the internet blaming the Vatican for killing x-million protestants last year or blaming the Jesuits for September 11th. And then I realize that these people are idiots with irrational hate and are better suited writing for UFOlogist Weekly.

Ooooh...more different nutjobs!

These people are very strange. Mind you, this sort of left-wing millenarianism isn't new - it's just been missing in action for quite a while. While I'm not suggesting that these people are necessarily going to end up drinking poison Kool-Aid, it's worth mentioning that Jim Jones' church was kind of like this.
