Just saw this film last night at the theatre. It was pretty good, and very funny in places. It's a documentary about spelling bee competitions in the US. They did interviews with 7 or 8 kids and their families, and followed their spelling bee careers from their city or state-wide competitions to the National contest in Washington DC.

It really is quite the drama. And the kids - wow, it was so neat to see their personalities unfold, and their family dynamics. To other kids at school, many of the kids are geeks, or at least noticably "different" in their eyes.

My favorite kid was this younger boy who seemed to have some nervous "tics" and was very clownish and immature - but in a way that was totally endearing. I think I said, "awwww!" at least a couple of times while watching him. He makes you want to give him a big hug.

Anyhow, good show to see sometime when you're not in the mood for Hollywood formula flicks.
