"If you're black, America's like the uncle that paid your way through college - but molested you" - Chris Rock

Chris Rock Piece

Man, I can't help finding this guy wildly funny & entertaining. But then my Jimney Cricket chimes in & I can't help feeling guilty.

Is it morally bad to enjoy this comedian?

I don't see how it can be a bad thing if, through humour, he gets people thinking about issues they wouldn't otherwise. It's very clever activism, IMHO.

Good point. I'll never forget the crack Chris Rock made on tv one night, about how there wasn't one white man in the crowd who would trade places with him... "and hell, I'm gawddamn RICH!!"

Everyone laffed, but there was an uncomfortable edge to it.

Good for Chris Rock. He's not only funny, but he's *smart* - a new Richard Pryor or Lenny Bruce for a new generation...

Heh, did you see him last night? "When he's not dazzlin' us with his acting, he's borin' us to death with his politics- Tim Robbins!" I actually agree with Tim Robbins' politics, but that cracked me up.

Heph, maybe not a Lenny Bruce, there humour is too different. But definitely a Pryor-esque personality (the mass-media outlets have reserved that for the underwhelming Chapelle).

Love the man's stand up and acting in stoner movies...But most of the movies that he is in really, really blow.

not really a Chris Rock comment

Did any one catch the "Dogs Bollocks" comment from the English lady ? Surprised the Yanks let that through the censorship 7 second delay thingy.

Editted to add: Andrea Arnold accepting prize for Best Short Film - Wasp

Chris Rock also made sure to send out his love to America's troops overseas fighting for "freedom."
