From here.

quote:
Exactly 30 years ago, the greatest moment in the history of televised entertainment was broadcast.

William Shatner sings Elton John and Bernie Taupin's "Rocket Man" at the 1978 Science Fiction Awards show. Shatner is introduced by Taupin.

Enjoy!

Awesome!! Have you heard his album Transformed Man, where he performs Tamburine Man and Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds?

Actually, it's the music that turns this into something painful. I think there are moments when Shatner really grasps the lyric, and gives them their due. But it all falls apart when the music starts.

"Rocket Man" isn't about rockets, or mars, or space you know.

Ya mean when he says, "And I'm going to be...HIGH...as a...KITE...by then!" before evocatively blowing out a lungful of cigarette smoke, he isn't talking about space exploration??

Actually, if you notice, Bill didn't inhale. And he holds a cigarette in exactly the manner that smokers don't, as if it's a foreign object in his hand, instead of a life long pal.
