QUICK! Everybody go to your TV's and turn on Newsworld!

Notice anything different?

Aparently, to kick off the new season, they're changing their image

They even got rid of the old Newsworld logo!
The New logo is just a red CBC logo with "Newsworld" written under it!

The station colours seem to be brownish-beige, and I guess red. it's not ugly.....but it just seems so......so.....Gap-ish

what do you think?

Can't do it, meades - my kid is far too engrossed in Crazy Quilt for me to change the channel right now...

Well, you're not missing much. Same content, different colours. That's about it.

ooh, and they have a new slogan too. It's "Trusted. Connected. Canadian."

check it out sometimes later today. It's not really that interesting.

Just checked now. Ick. The logos look like they're from one of those low budget, upstate New York network news affiliates. I keep listening for them to say, in an upstate accent, "Newswerld, C-yeah-nada's Nyews nyetwerk." (It's hard to reproduce nasal sounds when you're typing).

Don't worry, I spent WAY more than enough time in upstate New York this summer to know what you're talking about. Ick.

You did quite well, Michelle. I have a friend from another message board from the Rochester area. She's a school teacher, and she talks just like thayat.

I chanel surfed the 6 pm news tonight. It's all abysmal. My local station, "The New PL" (gag, a Moses Znaimer production-- it used to be CFPL) went to a health feature 12 minutes into the hour long broadcast. Apparently Canadians are good at reporting to our doctors our tummy upsets.

My day is complete now.

What crap.

I think I missed the new CBC Newsworld, but caught the verneable Beeb, which actually had some news. Kind of sticks out like a sore thumb these days, news in a news broadcast.

Those craaaazy Brits.......

We get "The New PL" too. You're right. It is crap. There's also "The New RO" for Ottawa, and "The New VR" for Barrie.

I'm pretty sure the Sault is bigger than Barrie. Why do we only get one crummy CTV channel?

I believe Toronto gets The New VR as well. The only good thing about it was that they played a lot of movies - those 80's trash movies like Top Gun and stuff like that. Such a great way to while away an afternoon or evening off.

I think Barrie might be smaller, but it's right on Toronto's "event horizon", so it appears to have more gravity than what it really does.

One does hope that one day Moses Znaimer will be in dire need of some information, and the person with it will say "....and I'll be back with more on that later, but first our live cam from....."

Or even-- Moses at his procotoligist, and someone breaks in durring his exam, and says. "City T.V. everywhere."

Often when I toy with future careers I think of bringing back quality and fairness to Canadian media by starting a National Newspaper, or National TV station. I guess it's one of those "revenge" fantasies people are prone to having.

Apparently that new logo was designed by a New York company and cost like a million dollars. Really. There was a story on it in the Toronto Star.

Oh WingNut, say it ain't so. My God, that's just awful. I could have come up with that design on my paint program.

And I'm not an artist.

Who said that?

Au contraire, my dear Michelle. I have read your posts. An artist can only hope for such strokes of genius. Such a flair for creativity. Such a skill for detail.

I would travel to any gallery, anywhere, for an exhibition of your posts. And I will pay admission if there are cookies.

Wot WingNut sed, like. Takes one to know one.

(At the risk of turning this into a mutual admiration society: if skdadl gets to follow you around, Michelle, going "ditto," I have dibs on WingNut. I've even peed on his leg).

A million bucks for the new Newsworld logo? And people thought it was scandalous when the CBC spent $30,000 getting their "exploding C" logo in the '70s. Bigger canvases, wilder shores.

I think they're trying to be too much like CNN.

I'd rather a friendly looking news network than one with a cold image, and "techonological" designs floating in the backround. If I wanted that shit I'd watch CNN or CTVNewsNet.

Newsworld should be cozy, friendly, and informative. They should try and provide a WIDE range of news items, from all around the world, regardless of wether the nations name is popular, or even heard of, or not.

Quality, not fancy-shmantzy-BS.

...And is it just me, or is NBN on like every other hour? I say we trim their air time too, free some up for new programs.

And where did "Straight from the Hip" go?!?! I usually couldn't watch it because of school and all, but I did on sick days.

Am I mistaken? Is it still on air? Oh please say I've been misinformed!

Gawd, I hate NBN. It's on ALL THE TIME! It's the same thing over and over again, too!

*blush* Flattery will get you everywhere.

That's okay, 'lance, I'll just follow you and Tommy around since you both crack me up nearly every time I log on. So does WingNut, but you already have dibs on him.

Oh, and meades' gets me every time.

Not to get off topic (because we all know I never do that), I think a few of us lefty types should all pull a meades whenever someone writes an extremely obvious trolling message (e.g. calls all us lefty types terrorists, or whatever). Wouldn't that be fun?

Regarding Newsworld - I haven't watched it in a couple of days in the morning. They haven't changed the actual format of the show, have they? It's only the logos that have changed, I hope. That sucks enough. Oh, and please, tell me they're keeping Mark Kelley. My world is all right when I see Marky-boy in the morning. Not just because he's a pretty face, either. He has a pretty sarcastic wit when he lets go (and usually Colleen Jones is the recipient). He's a keeper.

You need not worry, Michelle! It's only the logos that are different. That and the stock information boards they always show.

I really like the CBC. Let's face it, it's the least tainted of all our mainstreme media sources. Don't know if that's bad, or good, though

I always get in a bad move when I see those TVGuide "Viewers choice" things. For some reason, CTV News always gets first in Newscasts, and Canada AM always gets first for morning shows. rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!! CTV News sucks a**!!!!!!!!! The National is clearly a superior program!!!!!! And the people on Canada AM are fake, FAKE, FAKE!!!

Oh, and Michelle, as for , you were the one who inspired me! I remember you sent out that message about ignoring trollers. I didn't want to break solidarity, but I REALLY wanted to voice my disgust. Thus, the 16 rolling eyes of justice were born!

How about next time someone starts an entire thread out of a troll message, everyone replies in green rolling-eye smileys!
