Maurice Dantec, a well-known mystery writer in France (and elsewhere French is spoken, as here) is a member of a far-right organisation and has sought "refuge" here in Quebec.

Doesn't the story say he has been lving here six years? If so, it seems that he would have simply been given permanent resident status.

And he would now qualify for citizenship.

Mais, on prefere les ours du Quebec a le francais de jeff. Peut-etre, ce n'est pas vrais.

How "far right" is he? Are we talking a neo-nazi organization, or far right as in a Bushite?

Yes, that's what the story says. I was not trying to imply that the shithead is or was a refugee - he was a normal immigrant - he himself talks about his self-exile to Québec because of France being "overrun" with this and that. He makes the absurd claim that anti-racists such as Bernard Stasi might threaten his family. Odd because Montréal seems just as overrun as Paris does - probably he lives in some "pure-white" town but he could do that in France as well.

The story is more important for us in Québec as this creep writes letters to the editor of papers here, as a well-known writer, and it was unknown that he belonged to a far-right group.

I've asked anti-fascist association Ras l'front www.raslfront.org for more information, before contacting anti-racist groups here.

Michelle, I mean FAR right - as in the group that was dissolved when one of its members attempted to assassinate President Chirac (funny how Nazis tend to target "respectable" rightwing politicians - remember the Nazi who shot Reagan?). Definitely along the lines of neo-Nazis, though he mentions some differences with them.

You read the story right Jeff. This story says:

quote:
Dantec vient de demander la nationalité canadienne.

As you say Jeff, he probably already is a permanent resident.
