America's white supremacist movement has an angelic new face: twin teenage pop stars whose songs preach messages of racial hatred.

Prussian Blue, a "white power" band now recording its second album, is described as a sinister version of the Olsen Twins, the squeaky clean child actresses of the 1990s. It is attracting more and more fans among young white nationalists.

Lamb and Lynx Gaede, blonde, blue-eyed 13-year-olds from Bakersfield, California, have been entertaining all-white crowds with their music since the age of nine. Lamb plays the guitar and Lynx the violin.

I don't even know whether this band belongs in the culture forum, anti-racism, or feminism or youth issues for the way these teenage girls are being exploited. There's certainly a sexist element as the images of them smack of sexualized marketing.

They're apparently not welcomed everywhere though.

I have seen these youngsters on TV- in the clips I saw they must have been about eleven.

I wonder how many black artists they rip off to write their "white pride" songs.

From the ABC story...
quote:
The Gaedes apparently want to be left alone. They have refused to answer their door or telephone.

However, the Kalispell Police Department has heard from the family. The police say they received a complaint that the family was being "harassed" by the neighbors posting the fliers.

In an irony not lost on many in the community, the officers had to explain that the neighbors' free speech rights made the fliers perfectly legal.

Sometimes zee irony, she is delicious...

From spillunk's first link:

quote:
At this time Lamb and Lynx came up with the idea to call their band "Prussian Blue". Prussian Blue is a color and since some of the girl's ancestors are from Prussia and the girls eyes are blue they thought that would be a good name.

Some of their ancestors probably were from Prussia and the girls eyes probably are blue, but there is no way these girls at the age of 10 accidently and innocently came up with a name for their band that is the same as the colour so often used by hollocaust deniers to promote their pseudo-history and hate. The name was deliberately chosen and I would assume by an adult relative.

Bill Maher talked about these two a couple years ago on his show.
