A South American author penned a paper that has gotten world-wide recognition over the last 30 years or so. In it, he offers the conundrum of how any population that has only known oppression can ever rise above the practices of oppression itself since it knows no better.

He also puts forward the premise that is only by finding a method of activism and political change that avoids the trappings of the oppressors can a population ever hope to be totally free of oppressive behaviours.

Now, there are going to be those who will want to present a different perspective, but i hope that most posters will attempt to stay within the confines of this particular analysis so as to give us all a chance to understand its implications.
