So is anyone else playing this game?

It is a free download at www.americasarmy.com

It's an online first person shooter brought to you by the US Army. The entire game is online, similar to Unreal Tournament. The game boasts unmatched realism.

So I downloaded it about 3 months ago and have been playing it nonstop since then. It's an amazing game. All the weapons are real, the physics are real, etc. Much more fun, for me anyways, than a game where you fire rocket launchers at each other.

I'm sure there are some moral objections to the game, however. Yes, it is military propaganda. You have to go through training and as each mission loads the "soldier's creed" is shown.

You play as a team of US Army soldiers against "OPFOR," an enemy in terrorist clothes with AK 47s and masks over their faces. What's interesting is that all people in the game are controlled by a player, there is no AI. So to the other team, YOU look like a terrorist!

Anyways, if you've played it, let me know your reactions. If you haven't and you enjoy FPS, try it out. Or maybe you hate the idea of the US army releasing it.

To be honest, I hate the game with my little FPS loving heart.

I'd much rather play UT2k4, Half-Life 2(thank you Gravity Gun!) or even some old school Doom than a hyper-realistic shooter. Realism + video games makes me sad.

Totally agree with you. I like to play whimsical funny games with humorous situations, magic, and stuff like that...

I'm actually rather curious about this game, but my PC isn't good enough to run it (I guess the US Army is trying to recruit bored rich kids or something).

What I'd really like to see, though, is for someone to come up with patches for it (as has been done with Doom) so that you can play leftist rebels in Latin America, Canadians defending against a US invasion, or the like.
