I knew it! I knew it immediately! The one phrase that is possibly apochryphal, not the Shrub at all ...

It's poetry, after all, isn't it, kuba walda? (I assume that's why you picked it out too?)

I love snopes.

Jacob Weisberg of Slate has compiled so many Bushisms, he's produced not one, but two books. If I were he, I'd start publishing them around the dates of the State of the Union addresses, to remind people how Bush talks without a TelePrompTer.

Oh, 'lance, you have given me a stitch in my side. I've got to quit reading those lines. It hurts too much. (But it's a good hurt, y'know.)

Yes, my feelings about Bush aside, his election consoled me, belatedly, for the loss of Dan Quayle.

Then you must be delirious every time Chretien wins.

Yeah, but it isn't the same. I mean Chretien was already pretty familiar to us before he got elected, instead of coming out of nowhere like these other clowns seemed to. Even if he hadn't been, the novelty would have worn off years ago.

Besides, he never got so far out there as, say, Quayle did -- literally. Quayle was briefly in charge, nominally, of the US Mars-exploration program. He was talking about how "we" thought "we" could see canals on Mars -- hence the likelihood that there was free water there, and therefore oxygen, and the possibility that humans could breathe. Priceless.
