I find radio mostly crap pretty much everywhere, but back in Montreal i could get by with some CKUT (when i was lucky enough to avoid the hours at a time of experimental glass shattering that they played), CBC, Radio-Can, some of the Caribbean stations, etc.

Now that i'm in Toronto, can anyone recommend some stations. I particularly like roots reggae, early nineties hip hop, singer-songwriters (elvis C., tom waits, etc). Is there anything good out here?

Commercial radio in Toronto is unalloyed and unmitigated crap. Stick to the university radio stations -- CKLN 88.1 (Ryerson), CIUT 89.5 (U of T) or CHRY 105.5 (York, if you can pick it up, as it's a very weak signal by the time you get downtown) -- or the CBC (99.1 Radio One, 94.1 Radio Two).

Oh, and for hip-hop and reggae, Flow 93.5 is good.

If you're ever unfortunate enough to be taking a road trip to London, Ontario, make sure you have excessive amounts of mix tapes and mix CDs.
