According to www.teevee.org , today is the 25 aniversary of "The Dukes of Hazard". Taking a trip down memory lane, I came across this plot synopsis:

quote:
"Luke's Love Story"
gs: Roz Kelly [ Amy Creevy ], Marya Small [ Francis Lee "Frankie" Olmstead ], David Hayward [ Turk ], Gary Grubbs [ Roy ], Patrick Wright [ Moss ], Darryl McCollough [ Ernie Ledbetter ]
rc: Enos

In the annual Hazzard Obstacle Derby, a dirty illegal notorious race, Amy Creevy is the first woman to enter. Luke is smitten with her and they build a relationship, but he has a hard time accepting that he can't chase other women if he stays with her . Meanwhile, Boss Hogg needs to win because his mama's ashes are in the winning trophy , but Enos is driving for him. So he threatens to sell Cooter's truck unless he becomes a crasher in the race to make sure that Enos wins.

And I though Luke was the sensitive one. (Wait, which one was blond?)

I think Luke was the dark-haired one.

The only three things I liked about that show were:

1. Catherine Bach aka Daisy Duke. She was not only very physically attractive, she was also the smartest character of them all (as far as I can remember, the only one with any real measurable intelligence).

2. The car--a slightly newer version of a 1969 Barracuda. My older cousin had such a car. He bought it second hand (in 1972) and thoroughly beaten up. He re-cored the engine and put a lousy but creative paint job on it, a of course an AM/FM eight-track stereo. Working class powerhouse for sure!

3. The theme tune. Kind of a goofy country parody by Waylon Jennings, but very catchy:

Just the good ol' boys
never meanin no harm
beat all you ever saw
bin in trouble with the law
since the day they was born

Ain't sure if there was anything else on the shwo worthy of note.

There was a rumour going around last year that they're going to make a Dukes of Hazzard movie with Brittney Spears as Daisy. Anyone know if this is true?

This is getting silly:

Starsky and Hutch - with Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, and Snoop Dogg

The Six Million Dollar Man - starring Jim Carrey

Dukes of Hazzard (no cast listed as of yet)

Hah. I used to watch Dukes of Hazzard all the time when I was a kid.

They used up about 300 of those 1969/1970 Dodge Chargers, so I hear. (That's a lot of General Lees; it's also the only time I've ever seen a Confederate stars and stripes used on a car that wasn't owned by racists, as well.)

I always liked Luke and Gramps, the car and the song of course...Waylon rocks anything he touches IMO. I'm not much of a country fan, but that Dude was a Great One.

I must say, Klingon, that it wasn't Catherine's intelligence that caught my attention as an 11-year old watching "Hazzard." Daisy's cut-off jean shorts and those tight halter tops were more my focus at the time...
