Has this been released in Canada? I saw it on a music video clip in a shop here, but can't find any mention of it in the music stores.

It is an anti-war, AIDS awareness promo song, with people like Bono and Nelly Furtado and would you believe Beyonce and Britney Spears, and a whole lot of rappers who are probably quite famous. I'd like to get it.

Isn't this about 3 years old. It was made shortly after 9/11 and they had booked the artists and studio prior to 9/11 for an AIDS benefit and it also turned into a 9/11 thing.

Ahh here it is:

Duh! I must admit I was living in the UK at the time and in the rough and tumble of 1of2's birth, so perhaps I could be excused for not recalling it. However, it must have raised barely a ripple in the UK, becasue it rings no bells whatsoever.

Thanks for that.

We're a bit slow on the uptake over here, candle. Vanilla Ice is popular here though, so maybe we're not so backwards after all.

Yeah, and there's a new bloke who's just got an LP out- Neil Young? Toe-tapping hillbilly, but has potential.

Yeah, I remember that cover. The whole irony of the song, is that the celebrities were singing anti-war lyrics like "We don't need to escalate / You see war is not the answer / For only love can conquer hate", when just years later the majority of them were silent on the Iraq war, if not supporting it.

And that was the thing that sparked my attention. I thought to myself, I haven't actually heard any of these performers come out against the war (except Bono, who takes up so many causes I have trouble keeping up). It aws just a bit slick to be true.

Maybe they learned a salutory lesson from thsoe othe rradical anti-war campaigners the Dixie Chicks.
