The sixties had Vietam and civil rights, the seventies had flower power, the eighties was the "me" decade and big hair, the ninties well...bad music, and this decade will be known for BAD television (ie. reality tv and other "humiliation-based" shows). It's pathetic!

Any other definitions?

While we're defining it, what do we call it?

Yeah, the lack of an obvious name for this decade has long bugged me, too. After three-and-a-half years, though, I seem to have settled on "The 00's" (pronounced "double-oh's"). Either that or just "The Decade With No Name".

As for "defining" it, I think it's probably a bit early yet. "Decades", culturally speaking, don't usually begin until several years after the calendar switches over. What we call "The Sixties", after all, didn't really begin until the Beatles arrived in '64. And who in 1963 could possibly have predicted 1969 or Woodstock?

So maybe "The 00's" haven't really even begun yet.

yeah let's try to avoid "decade of despair" and the "Last Decade".pre-Armaggeddon would also be kind of a downer.
