The Make Poverty History Movement is rattling Montreal with the biggest concert of the year! On Thursday March 23rd 2006, Live Aid Montreal, the biggest charity concert in the city, is being held at Club 1234. Presented by Make Poverty History McGill, the concert features some of Montreal’s hottest young bands, including Sire, Hearts of Palm, Throwback, and Kweku N’ the Movement. The event, emceed by Justin Trudeau, hopes to raise awareness and promote the objectives of the worldwide Make Poverty History Campaign.

The campaign is dedicated to fighting poverty through its four goals: More and Better Aid, Trade Justice, Debt Cancellation and Ending Child Poverty! Over the past few years, spearheaded by U2’s Bono and a number of international celebrities, the campaign has achieved worldwide recognition and garnered global support. Make Poverty History McGill is dedicated to furthering these goals on campus and across the city.

“We at Make Poverty History McGill believe that this concert is an unparallel opportunity for Montrealers to unite in support of an incredible cause” Nejeed Kassam, director of Make Poverty History McGill. We hope to attract a diverse audience from the Montreal community. All proceeds from the event contribute towards the eradication of poverty and the Make Poverty History Campaign.

We invite you to attend and cover Live Aid Montreal. Press passes will be available for the media. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns.

“It’s such a great cause” –Justin Trudeau
