They were singing 'O, Canada!' instead of 'New York, New York' when the nominations for the 60th annual Tony Awards were announced today in Manhattan.

A record-breaking six Canadians were nominated in five categories and all of them hail from Toronto.

Bob Martin, Don McKellar, Alison Pill, Sergio Trujillo, Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison all stand a very good chance of winning the coveted prize for excellence in the Broadway theatre when they?re finally given out on June 11.

As was expected, The Drowsy Chaperone made the biggest noise, snagging a very impressive 13 nominations, which made it the most nominated show of the year.

The "little show that show that could," which started as a bachelor party romp in the back room of the Rivoli in 1998 is now poised to become one of the biggest hits of the current Broadway season.
