Do you play Scrabble? I have played for years, and more often in recent years. This past summer my wife and I usually played a couple of games a night.

Now, I have entered a unsanctioned Scrabble tournament. I hope it's as exciting as unlicensed boxing. I'm kidding--I realize that any chance I ever had of being cool is now gone... forever.

I saw a documentary, recently, about people who live for Scrabble tournaments (Word Wars was the name, I believe). They devote their entire lives to memorizing lists of words and doing anagrams. I don't know what's sadder--knowing that I will never attain that level, or being someone who thinks that doing so would be in some way, desirable.

I think my scoring range probably puts me in the range of a good amateur (350-400, with occasional ascendance to the 500 range). I rarely get bingos (using all 7 tiles in one play)--about 1 in 10 games.

How's your game?

My daughter is a Scrabble fanatic. My wife and I play a few times per week, but my daughter puts in hours a day on the 'puter.

I love Scrabble too. I play every day online, Literati on Yahoo. Not exactly Scrabble but close.

The real, Scrabble I play in french as there are no english people to play with in this neck of the woods.
