It is common to have slightly different cap badges depending when and where soldiers received their uniforms. Different manufactures would have produced different styles of cap badge. From the link on the Yorkshire regiment, the area produced 23 battalions of infantry this may the difference in the badges. The other problem is that unless you know what regiment he was in, researching British cap badges are very difficult because British units have been combined and re-badge many times over the last 300 years. I believe the current Yorkshire Regiment is the combination of about 6 or 7 units. Have you tried look for your relative’s war records on line? All Canadian World War One records are on line and I am sure that the British records are on the net.
