I'm trying to attach a small whiteboard to the side of my fridge. The board came with double-sided foamy tape which doesn't work. I tried Elmer's glue and that didn't work either. Packing tape won't do it either. Why won't this %^&* thing stick?

If you watched Red Green, you wouldn't have to ask: duct tape

More seriously, how heavy is this board?

We have one on our fridge, just held by magnets.

Not very.

It's too thick for that. It has a thin particle board backing which is too thick for a magnet to overcome.

P.S. I'm bored of buying duct tape. I buy it and it always disappears.

Why don't you duct tape it to something?

My only advice for the white board is to throw it out, and write notes on your fridge with permanent markers.

Glue some heavy-duty magnets to the back and they'll hold up the board.

Lee Valley Tools also sells "rare earth" magnets that I'll bet would hold up even through light particle board.

Do you think Elmer's glue would hold the magnets?

Trying to stay away from mail order. I'm bad enough at powells.com (free shipping if you buy over $50 worth of books!)

No elymers glue would not hold magnets, a different type of glue would be required. Or buy magnets that come with the glue already on them with the peel off back.

Right ... I don't think so. Power's on so we know for sure we're okay for the moment.

Kinda strange though, those aliens. I just moved here and I have a trouble light outside which was always on. I had a cursory look at it (I want it to turn on only when there's some actual motion in front of it) and thought "I should turn it off somehow and reset it," and then, poof, as you know, we had a brief alien invasion, and it's reset to exactly how I wanted it. As always, I'm in awe. And did you see the full moon this morning? Yowsa.

It would have to be either a contact cement "seal all" type of glue, or the mixable kind.

Does your office have the blank business card magnets where you stick your business card to the magnet, so people can put it on their fridges? If not suggest that they get some to hand out as promotions, so you can "borrow one" for your white board. Then you simply cut it into 1/4's and stick the sticky side to your white boad and there ya go...both Staples and Office Depot in Vic have them. Think the 20 business card pk is about $9 while the pkg of 50 is about $20.

I don't work in an office. I just advocate stealing office supplies.

Oh well, that idea is toast then, you are going to have to spring for a tube of seal all, at your local hardware store.

Don't forget to tell them to use the aliens as an alibi.

And yes G.Pie, I am kinda stalking you. Don't be too worried though, my obsessions like this usually only last a day or so. Although there are occasional relapses...
