quote: Shrugging his shoulders, Mr. Sanford spreads his arms, palms skyward, and lowers his voice. "See what I'm saying, man? Why should I care about New York? I live with terrorism every day."
'I really don't care about all those white people dying'
And they say poverty doesn't breed terrorism.

A possibly apocryphal discussion between Donald Woods and Stephen Biko:W: "Surely you've had... tribal conflicts..." B: "Then what do you call World War 1 and World War 2?" (I sardonically noted that they could be termed the white man's tribal conflicts. )

I don't have sympathy for the United States. But I have intense sympathy for those who died in the World Trade Centre a year ago. And for their families. I have sympathy for all victims of violence, and for those living in "war-torn" streets of North America's cities. But the image of the towers being hit and coming down affects me deeply. I can imagine the bodies being ripped apart. I can imagine the fear of those who jumped. I can imagine the smoke and blood and terror. But, even more terrible, I know that really it's all unimaginable. So whatever horrors I can dream up, I know that it is only one millionth of what those victims went through. Today, keep your politics and your brush-offs to yourself. Remember the thousands of people who died such horrible deaths. Think of their families.
