quote:
... [T]he PQ's new seven-point manifesto on sovereignty ... sticks to the original PQ message, with updates calling for a sovereign Quebec to screen corporate takeovers and references to sustainable development, a concept unknown in 1968.

"Sovereign, we can play a role as a world leader for the safeguard of our planet in the areas of the environment and sustainable development," the manifesto says.

"Forty years ago, René Lévesque created the Parti Québécois and invited the Quebec nation to conquer its collective liberty," it begins.

Ummm - that should be raison d'etre.

And unionist? Progressive forces are already split, with some on the federalist side, and some on the separatist side. The question is, how can the be united?

...if you consider "Liberal" as progressive? Up until 2004-6 it was federalist vs. sovereigntist.... the Libs were THE option for ALL federalists... Con, Lib and NDP. Now it's a whole different ball game.... the progressive vote rallied around the Bloc to stop Harper, not a peep about separation. The PQ is the same story, many progressive Quebeckers park their vote there. Same with the Libs for that matter. The NDP has a beach head, and now is the time to seize the day!

You must be new here.

I'm talking about Québec solidaire.

It's already bad enough with the so-called "Green" party taking votes in parts of Montréal.

We don't need another "left" party in Québec. We need everyone under one umbrella, and Québec solidaire has that kind of room.
