Some believe that RFID is going to usher in an age of government control, but that's only because they don't understand history.

tesco, a supermarket in the UK, is going to do a pilot-run of RFID's, they will have them in razor blades and have a camera take a photo of you when you take them off the shelf, then another when you reach the cash ... with the idea to prevent shoplifting.

RFID is part of a wider strategy to track people wherever they go (tracking mobile phones/sat phones, GPS/Galileo systems and tracking cars for the purposes of road charging), it goes on and on.
