Hee hee. Well, 'lance and I both joined the CA at the same time after joking around about doing it, here on babble. If I remember correctly, he cancelled his membership after Enza dropped out, but I let it run until it expired a year later so that the ten dollars I paid them would be more than used up by the mailouts. Here's the thread where we did it. Also, I guess I was wrong - I joined on January 9th, according to my post there, and by March I still hadn't received my CA card. I was a card carrying Liberal in Alberta (never one to go with the flow). When they began meddling with the company I worked for, I wrote them but only got a response from Collenette's office saying "you have the wrong office". There was no response when I mailed in my torn up card. quote: The Party system has elected representatives owing alliegance to the Party not the country
I will only vote for an independent

Hmmm...I joined The Alliance a few years ago, got my card right away, and I still get updates in my e-mail.But I voted Green in the last provincial election. I have no idea who to vote for in the Federal election, other than it definitely won't be NDP. I'll probably vote Green again.

Hmmm, the NDP constitution states that you can't be affiliated with another party doesn't it? So if you were to join the conservative party wouldn't you have to quit the NDP?

I was thinking of joining the Conservatives temporarily... To vote for my choice for their leader... Belinda... As I thought she'd be a perfect choice... Afterwards, I'd rejoin the NDP.I know a number of people who have joined political parties to go to the nominating convention and vote for the candidate they thought would be easiest to defeat. I don't know anybody who did this to vote in a national leadership race but I suspect that there were quite a few in the last leadership race for the Conservatives. I suspect half of Belinda's supporters in Quebec (or elsewhere in the country, for that matter) will not be voting Conservative this election.
