So I thought I'd have a little fun with this election. Picture the following scenario:
It's February 2003, and Jack Layton has just won the NDP leadership. He's having coffee with Ed Broadbent. Jack says to Ed, "you know Ed, I respect you a great deal, but it took you 13 years to lead the NDP to over 40 seats. I bet I can do that in half the time." Ed agrees to the bet. What are the terms of this imaginary bet? For example, if Jack lost the bet, would he have to shave his moustache?

With this obsolete electoral system, it's a crap shoot really. NDP won 20.38% of the vote in 1988, and a baloney majority was awarded the phony government. NDP should have had 60 seats then, and I suppose more if it was an actual PR system.

Can't we just have a little fun once in a while? That was the purpose of this fictitious thread.
