I just overheard a representative of a Montreal homeless association talking about how oil company profits should be taxed to pay for more shelters. And I thought, "What a self-centered prick. He's like a broken record, always talking about how we all need more shelters... more shelters... more shelters..."He seems to see the world through the narrow lens of his own homeless self-interest, as if there is no other type of existence on this entire planet except his own, miserable little hardscrabble life in cardboard boxes in minus 20 weather. As Baudrillard would say, he is absorbed in his own little constructed hyperreality of carboard and car exhaust. This kind of ethnocentrism (interest group-centrism?) has been the cause of so much misery over the course of world history. I don't know why these homeless ideologues doesn't scrape themselves together and take a few college courses to expand their horizons, so that they can become better, more other-oriented human beings. And why does he want to punish Exxon's success? [ 01 November 2008: Message edited by: QatzelOk ]

soundtrack BOT Then this lowlife bag-lady tries to raise my tax I scurry round the alley, try to steal her sacks . She screams at me, "Captain, you're a thief and swine!" I wave my gold watch and say, "Well, this is mine. . If you want to share the bank, you gotta get a job. For starters, buy a mirror, you're a dirty slob." . (I hope this song doesn't come off as sexist) [ 01 November 2008: Message edited by: QatzelOk ]
