There should be no doubt that the earth is warming up. And there should certainly be no doubt that the junk we are throwing into the air is problematic. But are we the primary cause of global warming, or is there something else?

Several years ago I read a book about the piramids; dangerous territory, I know. The author explained about the earth's wobbly orbit (precession of the equinoxes) and axial tilt. According to this author (sorry, I can't remember his name) the earth will reach the most extreme position of precession and tilt in 2012, bringing with it cataclysmic changes.

Is there anything to this? Unfortunately, when I try to Google this subject, I bump into the Mayan Calender, Edgar Cayse, and every Armagedden nut who ever posted. Real science is hard to find.

Do any of you know anything about this?

lots of real science here, and probably more bad news than you want to know,by implication.

Thanks, redshift, that's a good source. What that book must have been about was Milankovitch cycles. But what I can't find is when the three cycles - ecentricity, precession and axial tilt - all reach their maximum at the same time. Is that 2012? Or is the 2012 date just hocus pocus?

redshift: this is no place for junk science, we are talking about how the cosmos are fortelling the imminent apocalypse of the near future
