WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Conservative Christian televangelist Pat Robertson told citizens of a Pennsylvania town that they had rejected God by voting their school board out of office for supporting "intelligent design" and warned them on Thursday not to be surprised if disaster struck.

I feel sorry for the people of Dover, in between a rock and a hard place trying to decide between evolution or intelligent design. Sounds like they're going to be struck down by an old , bearded guy either way.

Long before America was attacked by Muslamiacs on September 11, 2001, Baptists recall a time when our dear, Godly ancestors also endured brutal slaughter by terrorist vermin on this very same land. You see, when God sent his followers to claim America as the new Canaan, He neglected to mention it would be filled with millions of lazy Injuns. These savage "squatters," as we've come to call them here at Landover Baptist Church, then had the unmitigated audacity to defy the kindly eviction notices served upon them by God's blue-eyed chosen people. Instead, they terrorized our peaceful ancestors, raping their livestock and engaging in nefarious espionage to steal the smallpox virus for their own selfish purposes.

The first terrorists

Well, old Pat's track record isn't too good. He keeps attributing natural disasters in areas that are somewhat less than gay friendly to gay rights laws passed in areas unaffected by such.

Massachusetts allows gay marriages - Red Sox win World Series;

Florida bans gay adoption, LA passes anti-gay marriage amendment - self explanatory).

So Texas might have more to worry about than Dover???

It becomes clear that Pat Robertson 1) has not read the words of Jesus found in Matthew, Mark, Luke & John (especially those words about loving people who are different from you) and 2) knows nothing of William Penn & the tradition of religious toleration established by Penn, a Quaker who practiced civil disobedience, in the founding of the colony of Pennsylvania. I guess Mr Robertson prefers those colonial traditions that banned Jews, Quakers, Roman Catholics & other non-conformists.

Pat should have a look at the story of the woman caught in adultery. Jesus didn't condone what she did, but he didn't condemn her. I don't think Pat can say the same about his prognostications.

All this would be relevant if Pat Robertson were actually Christian. But he isn't. His primitive mythology and his tacky, money-grubbing, fly-by-night ministry have nothing to do with actual Christianity, or any other form of spirituality, for that matter.

I suspect Robertson's suffering from an illness - he's sometime goes so far into the ozone that I find it amazing that anyone could take anything he says seriously. I wonder if he has an illness that leads to mental decline?

I'm just 56 and I have memory failure from time to time myself... now where in tarnation did I leave my slippers?? Oh - they're on my feet - never mind.

Yeah, the illness he suffers from is Antichristus apocalyptum.

This is just a wikipedia article, but note the two incidents involving the law where Robertson reveals himself as just simply corrupt:

1. The libel suit against Congressman McCloskey
2. Operation Blessing's involvement in mining in Africa

Just makes me puke.

Thanks for the link to Robertson on Wikipedia. Wow! I knew he was bad news, but, holy cow!

Quote: Robertson's net worth is between $200 million and $1 billion USD according to the 2002 book The Best Democracy Money Can Buy by Greg Palast.

I guess he's not a candidate for living in 'holy poverty' eh?

What did Jesus say about rich men and heaven again, Pat? What was that...? Louder, I can't hear you...?

And I'm sure Jesus was probably just talking about your average capitalist, not the egregious and truly debased ones like Robertson, who make their money separating ignorant, rage-filled people from a few measly dollars here and there.

For a further entertaining slice of Repugnican tolerance and respect for the democratic process, we turn to Bill Sheepfucker O'Reilly, who responds to the results of a referendum in San Francisco with his typical dignity and self-effacement:

quote:
Criticizing a ballot measure passed by 60 percent of San Francisco voters urging public high schools and colleges to prohibit on-campus military recruiting, Fox News host Bill O'Reilly declared on the November 8 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, ...

"if Al Qaeda comes in here and blows you up, we're not going to do anything about it. We're going to say, look, every other place in America is off limits to you, except San Francisco. You want to blow up the Coit Tower? Go ahead...."

Note that these are the creatures who proclaim their divinely-appointed mission is to spread democracy throughout the Middle East. Can Iraqis look forward to having Robertson and O'Reilly calling the wrath of God and/or al-Qaeda down upon them should they vote the "improper" way?

I wish that were true. But it isn't. He's got millions of Christians who hang on his every word.

Luckily, there are lots of Christians who don't as well.

I had to look this expression up!

Anyhoo, CNN (Lou Dobbs) was absolutely merciless against Robertson tonight. They read letters to the show calling him a moron and Dobbs categorically agreed. I've rarely seen such piling on. CNN, and I guess the media, is no longer afraid of this ninny.

Finally.

I just came across this item in a friends LiveJournal: "No military recruiters at shools in San Fran = get blown off the map, and so what"

[Bill O'Reilly:]"Listen, citizens of San Francisco, if you vote against military recruiting, you're not going to get another nickel in federal funds. Fine. You want to be your own country? Go right ahead," O'Reilly said, according to a transcript and audio posted by liberal media watchdog group Media Matters for America, and by the San Francisco Chronicle.

Adding to the buzz was
the MSNBC archived version of O'Reilly's Tuesday show which (according to Bay Area TV station KNTV) omitted the incendiary comments."

"Robertson makes it sound like God's a terrorist!"
You gotta read Nick Cave poetry!
He claims that his early song writing career coinsided with his reading of the bible.
he wrote some scarey stuff indeed as he read the old testiment. But it all changes with the new.
It would seem that Robertson is about half way through the old.
