Whenever the power goes out, my first thought is that the aliens have landed. If I were a head alien invading the Earth, the first thing I'd do is cut the power.

The Lower North Shore of Quebec must be populated with aliens then, because our hydro goes off quite often in the year.

I can't help but feel that you're not taking my fears seriously. It could happen.

My first thought is either: "oh shit someone hit a transformer poll, hope they are alright" in the winter, or "oh shit the lightening struck a transformer" in the summer.

Yeah, I guess those would be possibilities too.

If it is helpful to you G.Pie, the winter scenario remind painted doesn't preclude it being aliens who hit the transformer.

Helpful, or not, I do admit when lighting comes down in a big fork, and strikes the ground, I look to see if there is any alien embedded in it.

We get a lot of power outs and, coincidently, our MP seems to be an alien.

I got hit by the same power outage as G.Pie did. I was installing some software and - WHAM! - very annoying. Fortunately, dinner was early today so the main issues have been addressed.
Incidently, BC Hydro has a website noting the power outages. However, once the problem is solved, the CAUSE of the outage seems to get lost. Perhaps I'm not reading the website correctly. Anyone?

I was wondering about all those turkey dinners. And I couldn't navigate BC Hydro's website, either. I think I'll ask for a battery-operated radio for Christmas (so I can hear the aliens' demands).

While not alluding to the aliens I would think external factors could come into play by natural consequences? I was thinking of major outages in Quebec with the Ice storm. Or, how Soho management info on solar flares, gives us some advance notice not just on telecommunications?
Best,

A recent lightening strike blew out my computer...didn't get it turned off in time and it is now defunct. The strike was hair-on-the-back-of-the-neck-raisingly close. I did not catch a glimpse of aliens. Mmmmm. I tend to think of them not as an invading force but as more intelligent than that, perhaps coming close enough to our small and insignificant sphere to figure out they don't really want to be here.

I've lived in the same place for almost 25 years. Power outages have been very rare over that time. Even back during the big blackout, we were only without power for about six hours total in my nieghborhood.
....maybe there are aliens here that keep the power on....?
