NationStates is an online nation simulation game, based on the novel Jennifer Government by Max Berry.

Your nation develops based on your answers to a series of multiple-choice questions.
I created my own nation and moved to a new region called "babble". The game is still a little buggy and kinda slow.

Try it out.

I think nation states have become irrelevant. But this is fun.

Who do you pay taxes to, Moredreads? Who runs the schools? Who paves the roads?

My god! The nation-state you live in! Well, shucky darn and slop the chickens, the "irrelevant" nation-state keeps the infrastructure moving that gets you from point A to B and stuffs knowledge in your head so you can have chats with fine folk like us.

Well, more and more is it not the case that Nation States are divesting themselves of these tradtional responsibilities, which I concur make them useful. But more and more they are becoming little more than symbolic rallying points for young men to be formed up into armies so that they can slaughter each other.

I will ask this, are nation state useful in an internationlized economy where they play little role in affecting how that economy is run for the greater good?

You would have us, that is, world citizenry, divested of what little direct interest, what puny leverage remains, in the affairs of the world?

I would say that looking towards the Nation State as a means of refuge is indeed futile given the energies that must be expended in, say wining elections, given the 'puny leverage,' that is obtained.

I think the left must recognize that the slippery capitalist have moved the battlefied.

But only for a lack of a clear choice at the ballot. Given a true alternative at the poll that would not be the case. In the end, public interest and public involvement are absolutely essential for 'government' to work.

I am suggesting that extra-governmental activity would be 'less' profitable for the capitalists.

There is no problem with that, I am just suggesting that what is less profitable for the capitalist, will be more profitable for us. I am sure they enjoy the spectacle of us obediently marching of to the poll every four or five years, discussing such things as should Scotland have its own parliment, when they know very well that such a parliment would be as useless as the one they already have.

Hey, I was wondering who on here has a nation called The United Provinces of Tanah Burung?

I was just wondering who this was, because this nation and mine have become very close nations, even though we have left The Region of Babble for greener places. Also, if your nation still exists, tell me which it is, wouldn't mind finding more Babblers around, and I'm also searching for a new region...

Greeting from the Federation of Workplace Councils, in the region of Anarchy.

We were briefly located in babble, but decided through open general assemblies to move to Anarchy as there was more theoretical unity there (barely).

We have asked the Confederation of Libertarians for a copy of thier constitution and may move there if we aggree with it.

salutations libertaires,

Go to Nationstates.net and ensure you are logged in.

On the left, look at the links.

Underneath where it says "Logout" is your region name, click it.

Click on "Then move to a new region!"

Where it says "Find a Region", type in Babble, and then click on Like what you see? Move "YOUR CITY NAME HERE" to babble today!

The Most Serene Republic of Belugastan has just transported itself into Babble.

Sadly, in the process, the letter "a" was somehow left behind, and the nation has now been awkwardly rechristened as "Belugstan".

Since the wise rulers of the MSR do not know how to retrieve the lost "a", this new name will have to stand. (It's gonna be a bitch reprinting all that currency!)

I have renamed myself a Rogue Nation, and have moved back to Babble. I left briefly to pursue a pirate's life, but found it wanting .

Hey, I'm the only UN member If only I could endorse myself....
