The release of Gouge's report on the Smith Inquiry caps off a troika of travesties in Ontario's Justice system. We also had the Ombudsman's investigation into the SIU, which in essence said the unit is rubber stamp to clear cops of wrong doing, and the end of the Shawn Brant case, where it is painfully obvious the Crown moved to protect Fantino and the OPP's fascist abuse of the wiretapp laws. These are hardly the only examples of what appears to be chaos in our law enforcement and court system.
But it's not chaos. There is a pattern. If a person is well placed politically, or wealthy enough, of professional standing, or one of the establishments attack dogs in the OPP or municiple police, one is granted a "get out of jail free" card.
There is no accountability for a certain class of people.
But, for the rest of us who may be able to afford representation, but not a deffender, even if charged with an offence we did not commit, we cannot expect a fair trial.
Our courts are a tool of class warfare, and have surrendered even the pretence of being halls of justice.
Welcome to the Bastille.
