Whether you've read James Joyce or not, have every good intention of reading him one day or suspect that the whole thing is a vast but petty intellectual trick, you might still want to remember that today is his day, the day of the long walk (in 1904) that is commemorated in Ulysses.
Written by one who has committed stretches of Portrait and Dubliners to memory and at least read Ulysses once (although many years ago and in the imperfect edition -- what would a perfect edition be?), but whose abiding feeling about Finnegans Wake is that life is short.

Happy Bloomsday to you too, skadl! True Dublin weather today, at least in Montreal. What are you doing to celebrate Leopold's walk?

Hi, lagatta. I fear I did nothing for Leopold, partly because every time I tried to go outside, the skies opened yet again. Mind you, all I was going to do in Leopold's memory was pull some (now really terrifying) weeds ...
There is some sun now, though, and it is over the yardarm -- so maybe I'll raise a glass to Nora Barnacle -- yes, I think I will. Cheers
