Has anyone else noticed that many nations that seem completely willing to drop their pants for the unimpeded flow of international capital are at the same time freaking out about the unimpeded flow of people who might be terrorists? Doesn't this seem to contradict the argument that there needs to be formal equality worldwide in order to achieve true democracy?

Well, you know, offshore tax havens were just fine and dandy with Dubya Bush and his cronies until someone discovered that terrorists can take better advantage of deregulated, anonymous, capital flows.
Oops.
The irony is that a resurrected Bretton Woods would come with a host of regulations which would remove the anonymity of inbound and outbound money flows and make it child's play to track down Al Qaeda's money movements.
